    Compression Benefits at Work

Contrary to popular opinion, compression socks can be the BEST work accessory…hear us out!

How many hours a day do you spend at the office sitting in a chair? Standing on hard concrete floors helping customers? Or running up an down halls tending to patients? How often do you really get a chance to take a walk or stretch during your workday? Probably not as often as you should…or want to...

Dina's Journey as a Physician Assistant

Dina's Journey as a Physician Assistant
Hello! My name is Dina. I’m a second-year Physician Assistant student in New England. Being a clinical year student completing clinical rotations, no two days are alike. Our schedules are constantly up in the air so being flexible is the name of the game. In some specialities like psychiatry, I am sitting for 9 hours straight. On other rotations like general surgery, I am on my feet either running to consults or standing and holding laparoscopes for hours on end. Sometimes I work weekends or overnights, other times I’m on call and can get called in at the drop of a hat. Some days I get to go home early, and others I’m working for hours past when I was scheduled....

Payton's Journey to Becoming a Nurse

Payton's Journey to Becoming a Nurse
Hi! My name is Payton and I am a full-time nursing student and part-time certified nursing assistant (CNA). I have just entered my sophomore year of nursing school. While that is exciting, it is completely terrifying at the same time. I know all the stress and hard work will pay off in the long run. When I am not studying, going to clinicals, playing with my dogs, or going to class, I am working at a long-term care facility. I care for geriatric patients or patients with dementia, Alzheimers, disorders, impairments, etc. I truly love what I do and the patients I care for have taught me invaluable life lessons. Working as a CNA has only increased my passion for all things medicine. Eventually, I hope to become a NICU nurse when I graduate with my BSN. Only time will tell what part of nursing will be my true calling. I am open to anything....

How Compression Socks Changed My Running Game

How Compression Socks Changed My Running Game
It was the Fall of 2015: my first marathon. At the time, I was an exercise science student at Skidmore College. Trying to apply both my physiology and nutrition background, I created my own training program. I incorporated a balance between short and long runs, along with non-impact cardiovascular training. On paper, my plan was perfect. In the weeks leading up to the big day, I started to feel a sharp pain in both the arches of my feet...

A Day In The Life of a Crazy and Busy PA Student

A Day In The Life of a Crazy and Busy PA Student
My favourite rotations have been plastic surgery and neurosurgery! Although I am unsure of what speciality I would ultimately like to work in, those two mentioned above are pretty high on my list. I have loved getting to experience the operating room as a student - and especially be hands on whenever I can. I also really enjoy a good challenge, I love solving complex puzzles and thinking critically in all aspects of medicine, so maybe internal medicine will be my calling after all?
