Hey everyone! My name is Sam (@my.path.to.pa) and I am a respiratory therapist in the Philadelphia area, and also a current PA school applicant aspiring to one day be a physician assistant. I have been working for the past two years as a full-time respiratory therapist in the Medical ICU at a Level-1 trauma hospital. These past two years working in a hospital has taught me so much and opened my eyes to more healthcare careers, one being a physician assistant. I am currently on my path to becoming a PA and decided to document the journey on Instagram as @my.path.to.pa.
I decided to create this Instagram account because when I first started this journey last year as a first time PA school applicant, I felt so lost throughout this difficult process of becoming a PA. There is so much I didn’t know, and I had no one that could relate to what I was going through so I turned to the healthcare/Pre-PA community on Instagram for advice and support. My account is centered on sharing my specific journey, but also tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way as a Pre-PA. I share my triumphs, my mistakes, my lows, and my life as a current respiratory therapist and making the transition into the PA career.
Working full-time in healthcare, applying to PA schools, and running my Instagram account are time-consuming within themselves, but I also make time to do other things I love! I have an amazing boyfriend of over two years who is the most supportive significant other throughout this whole process. I also have a three-month-old puppy, Millie, who we adopted. We think she’s a german shepherd and golden retriever mix! I may be biased, but she is the cutest sweetest pup I have ever met (totally biased)! Me and my little family love to spend time outside going hiking, the beach, trying new food (big foodie over here!), attempting to expand our wine pallets, traveling and catching up with friends and family.
Throughout it all, Alpha Sole compression socks have been a live saver. When I originally started working as a respiratory therapist, I was not used to being on my feet for 12+ hours at a time. Midway through my shift the soles of my feet would start to ache despite comfy sneakers. I would get home from work and take off my sneaker and my already chubby feet would swell to twice their size! I would go to sleep then have to wake up and do it all again the next day, swollen feet, sore soles and all. I started wearing Alpha Sole compression socks and this problem became obsolete. I was in awe that by just wearing these socks I could get through a 12-hour shift easy and be able to do it all again the next day without any issues. Not only has Alpha Sole helped me in my professional life, but also in my everyday hobbies! I like to also wear my Alpha Sole socks when exercising and running around with my dog as well when I am traveling via plane or long car rides (no blood clots or swollen feet for me!). Discovering Alpha Sole has been wonderful, and I love being able to share my favorite compression sock brand with others and change people’s lives with this amazing brand as it has changed mine.
