During these hard times keeping our immune systems, strong is one of the most important things you can do to keep yourself healthy. Studies have shown that maintaining a healthy immune system is proven to reduce the risk of infection, lessen the severity of symptoms, and/or shorten the duration of colds.
1. Get Tons of Sleep
Sleep plays a huge and important role in your overall health. A night of quality sleep is necessary for brain health as well as immune, cardiovascular, and metabolic system function.
2. Eat Good Food - REAL Food With REAL Nutrients
Try to choose foods that are high in antioxidants, Vitamin C, and Echinacea. These have shown to support and maintain a healthy immune system and help prevent and treat systems associated with the common cold.
3. Move Your Body
Studies have shown that exercise and yoga can aid in battling acute stress! This decreases our chance of getting ill - stress weakens the immune system. Spend 30-40 minutes a day moving your body. This can be as simple as going for a walk around your neighbourhood.
4. Fill Your Body With WATER
Water makes up about 60% of our body weight and performs a number of essential functions in the body- so drink up! Tip: Pick a water bottle and then set a goal of how many to drink a day! I like to use a 32oz bottle and try to get in around 4-5 a day.
Stay safe and healthy!
